MEDIA INSTALLATIONS

Slavery in NewYork
Multimedia Producer & Designer

As one of two principals-in-charge of Slavery in New York at the New-York Historical Society, I led the design and production of more than twenty integrated media installations across a 10,000 square foot exhibition. The Well installation, the project's most resonant piece, invited visitors to look down into a multimedia well to see the reflections of the faces and voices of eighteenth-century enslaved New Yorkers. The exhibition drew the highest attendance for any special exhibition in the 204-year history of the Society.

“Michael, Slavery in New York has brought us record attendance and unanimously positive notices in the media and in the scholarly community. This extraordinary response to an exhibition many saw as a huge risk for the Society has a great deal to do with your skill and understanding.”

— Louise Mirror, President & CEO, New-York Historical Society
